On Tuesday night we decided to head over to Cafe St. Petersburg in Newton, as we heard it had some of the best Russian food in the Boston area. We were met with mostly good results, as we enjoyed our tasty appetizers, I enjoyed the Beef Stroganoff, but Kim wasn't all to excited about the Chicken Shashlik, which was a bit fatty. The dining room was cool, and our waiter was no frills, but took care of business. Afterwards, we treated oursleves to ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. Our quick and dirty review: stone cold awesome.

My brother and I headed over to Fire & Ice Improvisational Grill today for lunch. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out. Basically, you pick from a multitude of fresh ingredients, including meats, fish, vegetables, noodles, and garnishes, pick out from one of fifteen sauces, and bring it up to the grill where the grill-masters take care of the rest. You can go up as many times as you’d like. You can then opt to devour your concoction as is, with rice, or on a fajita. The salad is also do-it-yourself, which I personally love. It’s a fun time for a cheap night out or just a quick lunch. You gotta try it at least once, and for me, I just keep heading back. There are locations in Harvard Square, Back Bay, and Providence.

I dragged Kim out to Neptune Oyster on Saturday night despite the fact that she's not a real seafood lover. Turns out we both were delighted. The raw bar was outstanding, I had some of the best shrimp coktail I ever had. Kim went with a burger and fries, which was surprisngly scrumptious. I also had a salmon and duck surf and turf, which was excellent. We got there just in time (about 6:30 pm), as a line started to form out the door around 7:00 pm. I'd highly recommend giving this place a try.

On Friday we decided to try the Deluxe Town Diner in Watertown, as we had a hankering for some breakfast at 8:00 at night. Wow, were we pleasantly surprised. We were seated immediately, ordered, and the friendly waitress brought out our food pronto. I had the hungry man's breakfast, which basically included two of everything on the menu. Each item pleasantly pleased, even though the toast was a little burnt (I like it like that). Kim opted for the blueberry pancakes after she had been craving them all day. Some of the best she ever had. Parking was easy and the whole meal costed about $25. You can't beat it.

We had some friends in from out of town, and we decided to head out to Antico Forno last night. We started by sharing the Margherita Pizza, which was covered in a sweet plum tomato sauce and buffalo mozzarella. Three of us couldn't resist but to get the Gnicchi de Patate for our entrees, and by no means were we disappointed, as its the best in the city in our opinion. After dinner, we headed over to Cafe Vittoria for some coffee and Tiramisu. We just can't resist finishing up any of our North End meals there, and I can't bear to order anything but the Tiramisu. Its out of this world.
