We visited Sel de la Terre on Friday night. The food was great, the atmosphere was boistrous yet cozy, and the price was actually quite reasonable. If you give it a try, don't miss the Frites! The service was very good, and we were lucky enough to get a parking space right out front. Overall, we had a great meal, and we'll surely be seeing Sel de la Terre in the top 100 come next season!

Introducing the newest section to Boston100 - the Ten Top Tens! We're so lucky to live in Boston, a city where you can't limit the top restaurants in the area to just one hundred. This section was conceived to shine a spotlight on the restaurants that are the top-of-the-line at doing what they do. Please note that restaurants in the top 100 are not included in the Ten Top Tens, hence these dining establishments are The Best of the Rest. The categories for this section will rotate on a monthly basis, and the former lists will be placed in the Ten Top Ten Archives. If you have an idea for a Ten Top Tens List, or want to submit your own list, fee free to drop us a note at info@boston100.net. We're always looking for new ides.

Satrday night brought us to Ten Tables in Jamaica Plain. Overall, an outstanding experience. The food was superb, the service excellent, and the prices were moderate. Bravo to Chef David Punch and owner Krista Kranyak.

On Friday night, we headed over to Sage in the North End for Restaurant Week. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed by the overall experience after receiving some positive recommendations. We waited over an hour past our reservation to be seated, the food was mediocre at best, and the service left a lot to be desired.

On Saturday night, Kim and I took my parents out for their birthdays (a couple days apart) to Blue Ginger in Wellesley. Blue Ginger serves up award winning Asian-inspired New England cuisine by renowned chef Ming Tsai. It was a bit of a hike to get to Wellesley, but it was one-hundred-percent worth the trip. The menu was innovative and well-rounded, offering up several seafood and steak appetizers and entrees. We started with the Crispy Fried Calamari with Thai Dipping Sauce, the Colossal Shrimpnko Shrimp with Pineapple-Corn, and a Mixed Green Salad. Every item offered up a new flavor that we felt like we had never tried before. The Thai Dipping Sauce was tangy with a bitter bite, and left us wanting more. The Colossal Shrimp was a single shrimp - undoubtedly the biggest shrimp I had ever seen, about the size of a small lobster. The accompaniments to Shrimp added a crispy cruch and sweet fruit flavorings. For our entrees, we tried the Grilled Hanger Steak, the New Zealand Rack of Lamb, and the Garlic-Black Pepper Lobster. Again, everything was superbly flavored. The meats were flavored richly and uniquely, and the preparation was outstanding. If I had to make a suggestion, I couldn't have chosen between these three entrees, as each got an A+ in my book. Service was very good, while the price was expensive for the suburbs. However, it was well worth it, as if Blue Ginger was in downtown Bosotn, it would no doubt be in the top five of Boston100.

On Saturday we went out to Spain of Narragansett in Rhode Island with a group of nine. The service was great, the menu offered some great options, and the decor was pleasant. The specialty is the Paella - Kim tried the chicken and I had the shrimp. It was outstanding, and the portions were very generous. We'll probaby have enought for at least another couple meals. The one shortcoming was that it was a little hot - the A/C needed to be kicked up a litte.

On Friday night we had dinner at Harvest, which was recently rated by Zagat as the Best Restaurant in New England. While we may not go that far, we had an excellent dinner. The dining room was cool yet unpretentious, the food was superb, and the service was great. Not to be missed if you're looking for fine dining in Harvard Square.
