On Saturday we attended the Phantom Gourmet Food Festival. What an event. Our favorites included the Firefly's Pulled Pork Sandwich & Sweet Potato Pecan Pudding, Kelly's Clam Chowder, Wholly Cannoli Dynamite Sticks, the Trani frozen cupcakes, and the When Pigs Fly Bread. The crowd packed Landsdowne Street and the lines were a little crazy, but it was worth it. It was also cool to see world champion eater Takeru Kobayashi down 41 lobster rolls in ten minutes at Avalon.

We heard good things about a little place in Coolidge Corner named Lineage, so we decided to give it a try. We were pleased with the food (especially the Sea Scallops and the Butterscotch Pudding), but the tables-for-two were just too cramped together, so we weren't able to fully relax. We'd recommend if you’re heading out in Brookline with a party of four, but keep in mind the price tag falls in line with some highly regarded downtown Boston restaurants.

On Saturday Night we visited New Ginza in Watertown. New Ginza is acclaimed to have some of the best sushi and Japanese cuisine in the Greater Boston area. Well, it certainly lived up to its reputation as we were very impressed with the Sushi & Sashimi Boat and the Chicken Terriyaki. The dining room was very pleasant and modern, free of cliched decor. The service was excellent and the price was very reasonable. We will undoubtedly return, and probably very soon.

Having received numerous recommendations, we made reservations well in advance for the Metropolitan Club on Friday Night. The Met Club is a modern steakhouse located in Chestnut Hill close to Boston College. The menu is a traditional steakhouse, offering up some great steak cuts. We enjoyed every course to the last bite, and the service was excellent. The price tag was a bit high for Newton, but the food rivals many of Boston’s top restaurants.
