We took a mini-vacation down to New York City for Thanksgiving Weekend and hit up some outstanding restaurants. Restaurant Daniel, while the most expensive establishment we have ever dined at, pleased with its lush ambiance, excellent service, and fantastic French fare. A very posh spot to say the least. On Saturday, we hit up Camino Sur before catching a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. Camino Sur serves up South American cuisine in a funky and modern setting. If you're ever in NYC, we recommend giving this place a try, and definitely order the Arepa con Quesito - which is basically a pancake fritter layered with sweet cheese. The service at Camino Sur was also great. On Sunday we headed over to Spice Market, which is famous restauranteer Jean Georges Vongerichten's take on Pan-Asian dining. The flavors were undoubtedly exotic, the atmosphere was upbeat and hip, and the service was friendly. A pleasing meal all around, someplace where out-of-towners may want to go to experience some new flavors.

If you're ever in the Boston Common area looking for some great dessert late on a weekend night, head over to the Bristol Lounge at the Four Seasons. The Bristol's Viennese dessert buffet is one of the best dessert spreads we've seen. And that's not to take away from the meal itslef - we were treated to some outstanding Surf & Turf and a top notch Sirloin Burger, accompanied by some excellent service and a cool atmosphere. All in all, the Bristol gets high marks from us.

This weekend we headed down to Vintage in West Roxbury. The restaurant, billed as a "Classic American Grill", is a modern and upscale steakhouse on the VFW Parkway. The atmosphere was very cool, especially if you don't mind the hustle and bustle of a packed house. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and I persoanlly recommend the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp appetizer. Overall, a great meal, but make reservations early, because the wait for a seat didn't seem to get any shorter due to the large crowds at this popular eatery.

Saturday brought us to one of our favorite restaurants, the Oak Room in the Fairmont Copley. I was not disappointed, as I went all out and got Shrimp Cocktail and the Surf & Turf. A phenomenal meal. Kim found her Mesclun Salad and Steak Au Poivre to be very good, but not outstanding. Service was impeccable, but that's what you expect from this elegant steakhouse as the price tag is among the highest in the area.

On Friday we got lucky to get a last minute seat at Stellina in Watertown Square. Stellina is a neighborhood Italian restaurant which has been around for over twenty years. The menu offers up traditional and simple Italina dishes, which manage to be superbly satisfying. The Warm Tomato Salad was one of the best appetizers we've tried in recent memory. We've walked by in the past but were a little scared by the price, but in the end we found it was well worth it. Definitely worth a try.
