Ninety Nine
Friday night we ventured out into the cold to hit up the Ninety Nine Restaurant in Waltham, as its only about seven minutes from our home. We used the call ahead seating to bypass the long lines. We were very pleasantly pleased with our experience - the service was excellent and we were seated in a quiet corner booth with our own flat screen TV. The selection at the 99 is very good; we both opted for the Bistro Value meal - three courses for $11.99. I started with the Roasted Corn Chowder, moved to the Chicken Milano, and finished with the Tuxedo Brownie. Kim began with the Bistro Salad, selected the Roasted Chicken & Vodka Penne as her entree, and had the Double Decker Carrot Cake for her dessert. We also snuck in an order of the Toasted Raviolis. Everything was excellent - the chowder, vodka penne, and raviolis really impressed. The service was also great, as our waiter was both freindly and courteous. Overall, while the 99 does have a chain restaurant atmosphere, the food is always top notch and the price tage can't be beat (for those of you who aren't from the area, the 99 is mainly a New England restaurant chain started in downtown Boston back in the 50s, and now has over 100 locations). When we're looking to stay local and not overly spend on a night out, its one of our favorties.
