New Top Ten Lists for March
This month Boston100 added to new Top Ten lists to our Ten Top Tens - the Ten Top Desserts and the Ten Top Quick & Cheap Eats. Our favorite dessert spot is Finale, with spots in Back Bay, Harvard Sqare, and Brookline specializing in upscale desserts. Our favorite quick dining spot is Union Station, a pub in Newton Centre offering some inexpensive dining options. We encourage you to try out these spots and as always, please feel free to chip in with your own opinions!

Ariadne
Boston100 returned to Ariadne in Newtonville this weekend, one of our neighborhood favorites. As always, the atmosphere and service impressed, and each course was delectable. Particularly impressive were the Tuna Sashimi, the Skirt Steak, and the Apple Crisp. We also enjoyed the 20 Bench Cabernet Sauvignon. All that plus the hassle free parking will keep us coming back for more.

Acapulco
Acapulco is a small Tex-Mex establishment on Main Street in Watertown. We decided to try it out on Sunday night and we were really disappointed. The heat was either off or broken, and thus we were forced to eat in our jackets. The menu was impressive, offering three pages of Mexican good options. Unfortunately, our server messed up our order a little bit and we were way too cold to send it back. We enjoyed the Nachos con Chorizo and the Burrito, but the Tacos, Enchiladas, and Chimichangas were unimpressive. Even though the price tag was quite reasonable, we probably won't be heading back.

Ivy Restaurant
We delayed our Valentine's Day plans until Saturday, when we decided to give Ivy Restaurant a try. Ivy uniquely offers a tapas-style Italian menu in a hip downtown setting. We heard such good things, so we finally had to give it a try. We enjoyed the cool decor, thought the service was great, and loved the Sweet Potato Gnocchi. However, the tables were FAR too close together as we basically were rubbing shoulders with our neighboring diners. Furthermore, when the whole concept of the restaurant is to allow customers to try a bunch of little dishes, you should probably make sure that those dishes can fit on the table. It was quite the struggle to even fit three dishes on our tiny table. However, as we said in our review, some of the plates were outstanding, which made it a satisfactory trip. We'll probably give Ivy another try when we head out with a big group, we'll just make sure to ask for a big table.

Teatro
Meeting up with some old friends on Saturday brought us out to Teatro, a modern Italian restaurant in the Theatre District. The place was hoppin' till about show time when it quieted down slightly. Its cool atmosphere, excellent location, and hip lounge makes it a hot spot for show goers. As a group we tried several different plates, of which we were very impressed by the White Cheese Pizza and the Spinach Marscapone Raviolis. On top of that, the service was decent and the bill was reasonable. We'd definitely go back if we get the chance.

Charley's Eating & Drinking Saloon
Friday we found ourselves driving around Chestnut Hill looking for a good place to eat where we didn't need to be too dressed up. We found a good solution in Charley's Eating & Drinking Saloon. We were mostly pleased with our experience, save that we had to wait an hour when we were told it would only be half that. Otherwise, both the service and the food were very good. They do their best work with salads and burgers, and both hit the mark this time. Charley's also has other locations on Newbury Street and in Waterford, CT. It's right along the lines of a Joe's, which is owned by the same group. They're something about chain restaurants that keep us coming back every so often ... good selection, you know you're getting good quality food (but nothing extraordinary), and good value. That's all you're looking for sometimes. And we definitely found that at Charley's ... two thumbs up. We're also big fans of the Newbury Street location.

The Met Club
We decided to celbrate my brother's birthday at The Met Club this weekend, so five of us headed over to Chestnut Hill. Each and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed each course and in fact we might have just over-stuffed ourselves because the food was so good. Additionally, the service was excellent, valet parking was free, and the atmosphere was cool. It certainlt fortified its position as one of the top restaurants in the city. We also hear that they're opening another location in Needham later this year.

New Top Ten Lists!
To kick off February, Boston100 added to new Top Ten lists to our Ten Top Tens, each at a different end of the dining spectrum: Top Ten Burgers and Top Ten Healthy Options. Topping the best burger joints in the area are local favorites Wild Willy's, O'Sullivan's, and Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage. Among our favorite healthy options are KnowFat Lifestyle Grille, Henrietta's Table, and b.good. We encourage you to give these burger joints a fair shake, and if you feel guilty the next day, balace it off with one of these great healthy options! Have fun trying out these great restaurants, and as always, please feel free to chip in with your own opinions!
