After several recommendations, we tried out Blue Ribbon Bar-B-Q in West Newton on Sunday night. The BBQ was outstanding, as were the sides. We tried the Pulled Pork, the Jerk Chicken, and a Pulled Chicken Salad. The cornbread, black-eyed cord, and baked beans topped everything off nicely. Too finish up, we each sampled a bit of the sweet potato pie, which was delectable. As advertised, the dining room is tiny, only sitting about 12 guests or so in bar-style seating. Service was fast and easy, and it seemed like they did a lot of take out business. Parking is ample, and Blue Ribbon is located right off the Mass Pike. Its definitely worth trying out.

On Saturday night, we headed over to our old standby, Wild Willy's Burgers. The burgers were as good as ever, I had the "Wicked Good," which comes with carmelized onions, mushrooms, and two cheeses. The service was a bit out of whack - I think we were there during a shift change because several servers were running around clueless for a good 20 minutes.

Ending a week of restaurant-hopping, we tried out Porcini's in Watertown. Poricni's is a Mediterranean eatery just off Arsenal Street, with a very cozy and comfortable atmoshpere. The staff was very friendly and we were lucky enough to be seated without a reservation (although the place filled up real quick). The menu was expansive, I had trouble choosing after I narrowed it down to four or five great options. I ended up going for the Lobster Tail and the Raviolis, which ended up being a great choice. The flavors were delectable and the presentation was great. I would highly reccomend, and it may even have a place in the Top 100 next quarter.

We went to James's Gate in Jamaica Plain for St. Patty's Day yesterday. It was jam packed, thus the service was super slow. It seemed like they could have had a lot more staff on for the night, as it took over 15 minutes each time somebody went for a drink. However, the atmosphere was just right for the occasion, and we were lucky enought to get a corner booth. We only tried a few appetizers, and they were pretty good. Some of our friends tried the Irish entrees and were impressed. Another plus is that parking was actually really easy. Overall, I'd recommend, hoping that the service is more efficient when there's less of a crowd.

I attended Lala Rokh for lunch today with a friend, the atmosphere was quiet and comfortable. The menu offers up a good selection of Middle Eastern cuisine, and I was very pleased with my Kebab. One negative was that the lunch menu and the side dishes seemed very Americanized, and all of the real Persian dishes were expensive for lunch. That being said, I'd still return for dinner, as I found the flavors to be very good and the service to be pleasant.

We had some friends in from out of town who wanted to try some place in the North End. We decided on Prezza, and we were very pleased. The food, service, and atmosphere were all very good, especially considering we attended as a group of ten. Our appetizers and meals were all prepared excellently. However, some of us thought that the entrees could have used a bit more flavor. The menu and the wine list were each very extensive. We'd definitely go back, keeping in mind that the prices are fairly high and getting in to the center of the North End is not easy.

We were looking for something real casual and inexpensive on Friday, so we tried Union Street. It was just about what we were looking for - good prices with tast bar food. We went with a group of five, between us we tried the BBQ Wings, Potato Skins, a Cheeseburger, Fried Clams, a Cobb Salad, and a few other entrees. Everything was comforting and satisfactory. The service was a bit slow, but polite. The crowd was real young, I fee like this place gets a lot of the underage crowd from BC. However, it still turned out to be just what we were looking for, and we'd certainly go back.

Every couple weeks I hit up Skipjack's for some fresh seafood, as its conveniently located in my office building. I absolutely love the Barbecued Sea Scallops. They're seared perfectly with a deliciously tangy sweet BBQ sauce, and served with sides of sweet bread, mashed potatoes, and crunchy onions. The atmosphere is coolly relaxed, and the service is excellent. The sushi bar also seems very popular. However, the overall price tends to be a bit expensive for an everyday lunch – it cost me about $17 just for my entrée and a soda. That’s why I only visit sparingly. Overall though, I'd still highly recommend.

We went to Porters Bar and Grill for a snack and some drinks before the Celtics game on Wednesday Night. Porters is at a great location right near the Garden. Overall, the experience was mixed. It was a really overcrowded, but our waitress was very attentive and friendly nonetheless. The food was decent, but nothing great - keep in mind that we just tried the Chicken Tenders and the Mediterranean Plate. However, it does seem that Porters bugers have won some local acclaim. Our drinks were actually not that good - the bar uses generic soda that didn't go well alone or mixed in cocktails. We moved on to the beer list, which had a good selection.
